CASA GRANDE CARES COVID-19 RENTAL/MORTGAGE AND/OR UTILITY ASSISTANCe
The Casa Grande CARES fund will be used to respond to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) among individuals and families who have been impacted by it. Casa Grande residents demonstrating eligibility may receive rental/mortgage and utility service assistance. Rental/Mortgage and utility payments will be made directly to the landlord or provider. Funds may not be used for connections or deposits.
Households eligible to receive the one-time financial assistance must be able to document that their current financial hardship is due to COVID-19 and have a total household income at or below 100% of Area Median Income (AMI) during the month for which they are seeking assistance (March 2020 - Present). Please see the table below for Area Median Income. Households will be required to pay rent or mortgage of 30% of their gross household income for the month directly to their landlord/property owner or mortgage holder.
Approve eligible households may receive assistance up to $1,000 for rent or mortgage and/or $500 for utility services: electrical, natural gas/propane, water, sewer, and trash utilities. Utility payments will be made directly to the utility company. Funds may not be utilized for service connection or deposits.
If you do not qualify because you are outside of the Casa Grande city limits, don't worry, you may qualify through the Arizona Department of Housing. https://housing.az.gov/

AND
Have proof of residency (ID or driver's license, rental agreement, mortgage statement, utility bills in your name)
AND
You must have less than the area median income for your entire household (See blue chart below)
AND
You must not have received CG CARES funding in the past (this is a one time assistance)
AND
Your income must have been decreased by COVID-19 (reduced hours, lost work)
OR
Your expenses must have been increased by COVID-19 (child care due to school closing, medical expenses increased)
AND
You must have proof of lowered income or higher expenses (check stubs, letter from employer, statement from child care or medical bills)
Assistance available is up to $1,000 of rent or mortgage and/or $500 in utilities.
You will be liable to pay 30% of your household income toward your rent or mortgage directly.
